Getting the Insurance Coverage You Really Need

A primer for archives, small museums, historical societies, and historic sites

The Kansas City Area Archivists invite you to attend our free August 18th program to learn more about your institution’s insurance coverage needs and to discuss our shared concerns about insurance coverage required to protect our institutions, staff, patrons, and collections. This is a FREE lecture co-sponsored by KCAA and our colleagues, the Heritage League of Greater Kansas City.

Insurance professionals will address identification of important aspects of institution and collection insurance (including clarification of terms such as actual value, average replacement cost, direct loss, appraised value, etc.) and suggest risk mitigation actions to improve institution and collection safety and reduce insurance coverage premiums. Come ready with questions to ask of our speakers.

Following the program, there will be time to mix and mingle with colleagues in the local history/heritage/historic preservation community. This is the first of what we hope will be a continuing series of programs co-sponsored by KCAA and the Heritage League.

Wednesday, August 18, 2010, 2:00 to 5:00 pm

The Midwest Genealogy Center
3440 S. Lee’s Summit Road . Independence, MO 64055

The event is FREE and no reservations are required. But, if you’ll send an RSVP notice to Kate Rogge ( or 785.393.2971), with your name and institution’s name (and if you’re a member of  KCAA, HLGKC, or both), we’ll know to order enough refreshments, put out enough chairs, and will have a name tag waiting for you. Thank you.

We hope to see you all in Independence on August 18th!
