Libraries Planning for Disasters: 10-Step Approach to Service Continuity Planning

Free Webinar, Friday, March 30, 2012, 1 pm Mountain, 2 pm Central

The “10-Step Approach to Service Continuity Planning” presentation is a step-by-step approach to how a library can continue to provide its core resources and services to patrons in the event of a disaster or any kind of service disruption. Topics include identifying risks, the importance of well-rehearsed response procedures, strategies for maintaining core services and resources, creating a one-page pocket response plan, and the value of home preparedness.

Dan Wilson, Coordinator, NN/LM Emergency Preparedness & Response Initiative. Dan oversees the maintenance of the national emergency preparedness and response plan, works with regional medical library liaisons and state coordinators on preparedness and response issues, provides training in service continuity, and facilitates mutual aid agreement with libraries. He works at the University of Virginia’s Claude Moore Health Sciences Library where he is the Associate Director for Collections & Library Services.
